Easier Than I Thought

I don't want to make any more winter garments. I'm ready to make spring garments, although there seems to be no sign of spring coming anytime soon. So I thought a blue shirt would be perfect for any season. I pulled an older pattern from my collection, Butterick 4023.
I've had this pattern a long time. Every time I would put my hands on it, I would say to myself," This shirt is too much work" and put it back in the drawer. I have finally gotten over the,"this is too much work "attitude. I have found out that this pattern was not "too much work" at all. I'm working on the version showing the horizontal tucks.
It was much easier than I thought. The tucks are done on one rectangle of fabric and then the two fronts are cut from it. Everything lines up an goes together just fine. I realize that I like fabric manipulation and want to include more of it in my sewn garments. I'm almost finish with this shirt and my mind is swimming with ideas.

Although I'm way behind you in sewing skills, I'm trying to go past the "this is too much work" or "this is too hard" thinking, too. I have really enjoyed seeing all the creativity you put into your sewing!

It looks like you have a hidden skill for fabric manipulation that's just appeared. This blouse is looking great.

Lisa, the blouse is going to lovely when it is finished, and the centre line with the tucks will really look good on you. Looking forward to seeing the finished blouse.

Oh my gosh, Lisa. I love the tucks. Simplicity 2633 is one of my current 'too much work' patterns. Every time I take it out of the envelope, I put it right back - especially since I have to make several adjustments. I might just do it now. Thanks for sharing! I can't wait to see how your shirt turns out.

It's amazing how those niggling thoughts of "This is going to be too hard" pop into our minds at times. It's such a great feeling once you jump in and discover that it wasn't as hard as you thought it was going to be and the results really pay off... just look at your top... it's a classic example and it sure is looking great! Well done and congratulations :)

Oh by the way I sent you an email to let you know the plus size pattern pyramid arrived YEH! This weekend I'll go through them and decide which one/s to keep and what I'll add... can't wait!
