Nothing was going right. I was ready to throw it in the trash can. It was clearly time to walk away. So after a day of sulking,I decided to sew something else. I pulled out this OOP pattern, and some $1 fabric from Walmart and have some non-complicated sewing fun. I morphed this pattern into this cardigan jacket. After rounding off the neckline, shortening the lengthened sleeves,I cut 2 inch bias strips and did rolled edges on my serger. Then I used my ruffler foot to gather this stretchy fabric into an evenly gathered ruffle. This gave me about two yards of new embellishment, which I applied around the neck and down the front of my new cardigan.
I wore it to work today and it was very comfortable. As for the jacket that I almost threw in the trash...I have returned to it with a renewed mind. More on it in a later post.

That is a wonderfully cute cardigan. Love the detail you put into it too!
I want one. :)
Brilliant, Lisa. Love the embellishment. Tyna
This looks so good on you. Sometimes you have to do something easy to bring back the mojo. Many of my projects have ended up in the garbage over the years. I can see you wearing this a lot.
Very nice. My color too. Love the ruffle.
Gurl that is too cute. Make me one...please! I can relate to your feelings on that other project. Been there...done that. You did the right thing by putting it down for a while. Now you can get back to it with a renewed resolve.
I love the ruffle on the front. How creative you are to make all those changes!! I'll bet you got lots of compliments at work. Good luck with the jacket. I have felt that frustration. You are welcome. I needed a new organizer so this gave me the incentive to make one. I have a purse in mind to go with it whenever I get these Easter clothes finished. Working on no. 2.
You are welcome I needed a new organizer so this gave me the incentive to make one to go with a purse I'm planning to make if I ever get all these Easter frocks done. Love your cardigan!! The ruffles are a very nice and creative touch. Bet you got lots of compliments at work.
The jacket is so cute. Great piece to add to your wardrobe.

What a difference. I had to go back and look at the pattern jacket. Your top looks nothing like the pattern. I love the idea of the trim. Another good one! Now go beat the other one into sbmission! Sometimes they need to be shown who's the boss.
I agree with Faye - that is a very cute cardigan!
I agree a gorgeous jacket and the detail is awesome. Now off to check out a ruffler foot for my machine.
Very true, sometimes you just have to walk away. Love the cardigan you are such a wiz at altering a pattern.
Great save! I like your new cardigan! Ruffles are always a nice touch. :)
Very cute cardigan!
This is a great jacket and looks awesome on you. Sometimes we just have to walk away from a project for a bit and then go back with renewed perspective.
Your blog is a breath of fresh air for me. Your sheath dress is beautiful and inspires me. Thank you!
Love the ruffled trim and the changes you made to the original. Very charming on you indeed.
I have that Guy Laroche pattern...totally unexplored. Hope you can work your way through the problems or do something I am rarely able to do - just let it go. It's almost Spring! (So what's with all this snow????)
