My goal is fashion embellishment. I've found it to be a challenge to create a garment that features embellishments that actually look good. Most of my embellishment attempts, like machine embroidery (other than monograms) are failures.
They always look obvious or homemade dorky.
I've seen all kinds of embellishment on boutique clothing, in catalogs and on the Internet that look fantastic. I like to successfully...
add trim or fraying
add beads or ornate buttons
or mix fabrics in an exciting wayHowever ,when I try to duplicate the look, I jump right in with no practice,or test runs, and end up destroying an otherwise nice piece of clothing. I haven't try any embellishment in a really long time. I have tons of books and magazines on the subject and I have begun my studies. I'm prepared for a fun journey. Wish me luck.

Sounds great - love the idea of embellishments. I still have to conquer a simple button and zip. I look forward to seeing what you come up with
Oh, I am so with you on this- my attempts at embellishment has never looked anything but crafty/crappy! I will watch and learn from you.
I'm with BeaJay. Embellishments have the potential to add a certain oomph to a garment. If I can master a fitted, woven button-down blouse, maybe I'll try embellishing next. Good luck to you! I look forward to seeing what you make.
Wow Lisa! What a great goal! I'm cheering for you and know you will do a phenomenal job in tackling it. You're definitely a step ahead of me since I tend to shy away from embellishments myself. Wishing you the best!!!
Good luck! May all your attempts be stellar!
Have fun, enjoy the journey.
